Isle of Bute Named Best Place to Live in Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the community of the Isle of Bute on having their island named the best place to live in the country by The Sunday Times in the annual Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2022 guide; understands that The Sunday Times' expert judges behind the guide, assess a wide range of factors, from schools, transport and broadband to culture, green spaces and the health of the high street; further understands that they look to celebrate improving towns, villages or city centres as well as attractive, well-designed homes, and locations they believe are bursting with community spirit, which the COVID-19 pandemic has shown to be the most vital quality of all; recognises the multicultural and multigenerational spirit of the Isle of Bute and the good way of life, it believes, it can offer to lots of different people, highlighting the warm island welcome received by Syrian families arriving on the Isle of Bute; acknowledges the judges' comments on the Isle of Bute being full of adventurous locals fizzing with ideas to make their neighbourhoods shine, and commends what it sees as the tremendous community spirit of the islanders in making the Isle of Bute recognised as the best place in the country to live.
