Recognising the Importance of In-person Banking
The motion
That the Parliament opposes the recent reported announcement that Lloyds Banking Group will shut its Bank of Scotland branch inRiddrie in summer 2022, which, it understands, is the last remaining physicalbank branch in the north east of Glasgow; recognises what it sees as thedisproportionate impact that the closure of banks has on the most vulnerable, including older people, many of whom do not have access to digital banking;further recognises what it sees as the importance of in-person financial andaccounting services in communities, and supports the protection of the remainingphysical bank branches across the country.
