EDF Renewables' Contribution to Scotland's Green Energy Goals
The motion
That the Parliament recognises what it sees as EDF Renewables’ commitment to producing clean, green energy in Scotland, while simultaneously providing multiple economic benefits to communities; understands that the company's operational portfolio of 10 onshore wind farms is generating approximately 500MW of renewable energy; notes the reported plans to significantly expand this output, with nearly 500MW of onshore and offshore projects currently under construction, and over 1.2GW in planning and development; understands that substantial investments are being made in using local supply chains and delivering community benefit funds across the country, including in the Lothian region, and recognises what it sees as the importance of amending National Planning Framework 4, to ensure that the deployment of renewable energy technology is made as a foremost priority to achieve net zero targets and tackle the climate emergency.
