Disturbances at Capercaillie Sites
The motion
That the Parliament notes with concern reports that a capercaillie site in the Strathspey area has been disturbed by members of the public; highlights that Spring is breeding season for the capercaillie and, if disturbed, they may not breed at all that year; understands that the birds are an endangered species, and considers, therefore, that it is essential that they have the opportunity to breed; calls on the public to act with caution and care when near any possible lekking sites, and acknowledges what it sees as the importance of protecting these rare birds as part of Scotland’s commitment to conserving wildlife.
