Recognising NHS Western Isles' Daily COVID-19 Updates

The motion

That the Parliament notes the recent announcement by NHS Western Isles that it will stop publishing daily COVID-19 numbers; commends NHS Western Isles staff, and its Chief Executive Gordon Jamieson, for the efforts they have gone to in keeping the public informed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that Gordon has been providing video updates on social media almost every evening since the beginning of pandemic, giving out details on case numbers, testing and vaccination clinics; considers that these updates acted as a source of reassurance to the public during an unprecedented public health emergency, while ensuring important information was widely distributed, and recognises what it sees as the enormous contribution that both health and care staff have made in providing care in very difficult circumstances, at the same time as a vaccination programme provided at a pace that rivalled, it believes, any other community in the country.
