Ayr Church Secretary Gifted Prestigious Award at Windsor Castle’s Royal Maundy Service

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ayr’s Irene Bartholomew as she is awarded a Maundy money gift for her dedication to Christian services; notes that Irene is an Office Administrator at Ayr’s St Columba Church, where she has worked for 21 years; further notes that the award ceremony was held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on Maundy Thursday, which it understands is an annual ceremony dating back to the 13th century; understands that Irene’s award recognises the services she has provided to the church and wider community; further understands that Irene’s award likely recognised the services she provided during the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, where she kept people connected in the community by making cards and sending them out to some housebound people every week and running a seniors keep fit class, and wishes Irene well as she continues to work at Ayr’s St Columba Church and bring her community together.
