The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Edinburgh International Festival on the launch of its 2022 programme and its continued work in communities across Edinburgh; welcomes the number of free events in the programme, in particular the MACRO event at BT Murrayfield on 5 August 2022, which will be a celebration of Australian and Scottish culture in circus, dance and music; notes what it sees as the positive role played by Edinburgh International Festival in supporting Scotland’s place on the world stage by welcoming artists from around the globe; further notes what it sees as the importance of the Edinburgh International Festival and other Edinburgh Festivals to the Edinburgh and wider Scottish economy, and notes the view that long-term sustainable funding is needed for the future success of Edinburgh International Festival and Scottish arts and culture.
