The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Mohammed Aslam, Pather’s Postmaster, on receiving his Community Service Award for 20 years of continued service; understands that the award is given for every decade of commitment and dedication within the community; further understands that Mohammed has been a postmaster since 1994 in Glasgow, before opening the Post Office in Pather on 22 April 2002; believes that Post Offices offer a vital service for communities, by providing a place for people to pay their bills, collect benefits, drop off their parcels, buy stamps and, more than often, provide a friendly face to those who are isolated, alone and often vulnerable within communities; notes that around 17 million customers across the UK, including a third of all small businesses, visit a post office every week; considers that communities cannot be left stranded without access to the essential services provided by post offices; commends Mohammed’s commitment to the community, and wishes him well for the future.
