Visit of SCIAF Partners
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the visit of Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund’s partners Father Leonard Chiti and Thérèse Mema Mapenzi; notes that Father Leonard is from Zambia and serves as a Superior of Jesuits in Southern Africa and has championed the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, the right to food and the impacts of climate change, and that Thérèse is the Director of Centre Olame Bukavu, an organisation that works with the survivors of sexual gender-based violence in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo; welcomes Scotland's efforts in seeking to amplify the voices of the Global South to those in power at COP26 and hopes that it will continue to do so for COP27, and beyond, and further hopes that Scotland will continue to play what it sees as a positive role in international development.
