The motion

That the Parliament congratulates 13-year-old Zuzanna Kujawa of Holy Cross High School in Hamilton on her achievement in placing first at South Lanarkshire Council's, Young Musician of the Year Competition 2022, performing the piece Passacaglia, by Rhené-Baton, impressing the judges with her exceptional musicianship and flair; understands that Zuzanna learns from her proud Holy Cross High School music teacher and also studies the flute under the tutelage of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama; further understands that Zuzanna has been playing the flute for eight years and has recently achieved a distinction for her Grade 7 flute exam, as well as playing the piano to Grade 7; commends Zuzanna on the hard work and determination that sees her representing South Lanarkshire at the inaugural National Scottish Young Musician Solo Performer of the Year Competition, which it understands is to be held at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow; notes that Zuzanna is also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and NYO-Inspire, which it understands is an inclusion and access programme that provides orchestral opportunities for teenage musicians to learn from each other and develop their musical and performance skills, and wishes Zuzanna well with her musical aspirations, including her stated desire to become a music teacher.
