Queen's Park Football Club Promoted to the Scottish Championship

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Queen’s Park Football Club on reaching the Scottish Championship for the first time; understands that the Glasgow club, which was founded in 1867, is the oldest association football club in Scotland and the oldest in the world outside of England and Wales; further understands that the club was fully amateur for the first 152 years until November 2019 when the club’s members voted to end its amateur status; commends the club for winning successive promotions in the second full season since its move to professional status; understands that this is the first time Queen’s Park have played in Scotland’s second tier since the Scottish league was re-organised into three divisions in 1975; notes that the club are delighted to be promoted; congratulates the players, staff, supporters, the board and interim manager, Marijn Beuker on this remarkable achievement; wishes incoming new manager, Owen Coyle good luck in the Scottish Championship next season, and all the best to the club for their continued success.
