West Dunbartonshire Council Wins Major COSLA Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates West Dunbartonshire Council on winning the COSLA Just Transition to a Net Zero Economy Award at the COSLA Excellence Awards 2022; notes that the local authority won the category for its pioneering Queens Quay Water Source Heat Pump and District Heating Network in Clydebank, which it understands has made a positive impact on the town since it became operational in November 2020; understands that the £20 million technology is the first large-scale water source heat pipe scheme of its kind in the UK, contributing to making Clydebank one of the greenest areas in the country, and looks forward to seeing the further implementation of West Dunbartonshire Council’s Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan to ensure that West Dunbartonshire is Net Zero by 2045.
