Izzy Docherty and Alison McFarlane Dedicate Decades to Girls’ Brigade

The motion

That the Parliament thanks Izzy Docherty and Alison McFarlane for dedicating 80 years of service to 2nd Port Glasgow Girls’ Brigade; understands that the pair have been with the youth organisation since they were five years old, both became officers when they turned 18, and have continued to volunteer with the organisation ever since; notes that Izzy and Alison were recognised at the 2nd Port Glasgow prizegiving at the town’s New Parish Church; affirms that Izzy and Alison’s dedication to the Girls’ Brigade movement is an inspiration and, given that they estimate they have engaged with thousands of girls over the years, believes that this highlights the positive impact that volunteering can have on young people, and wishes Izzy and Alison all the best for the future.
