Sexism in the Workplace

The motion

That the Parliament notes with concern the reported comments by Aviva chief executive, Amanda Blanc, that sexism towards women in senior positions has become more intense and less hidden in recent years, with abuse both online and in-person; considers that sexism and misogyny are all too common in both public life and in the workplace, and that the Amanda Blanc story is the tip of a very large iceberg; believes that sexism and misogynistic behaviour across Scotland, and the world, has harmful societal, democratic and economic effects; pledges to tackle sexism and misogyny in all its harmful forms, and calls on all parliamentarians to hold a no-tolerance position on misogyny in Parliament and in the way that business is conducted.
