Greenock Fire Museum Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Greenock Fire Museum on celebrating its 10th anniversary; notes that heritage volunteers have various attractions lined up for visitors this summer, including an 1820 appliance from Perthshire, a 1950s fire engine that was used in Gourock and a 1936 engine on loan from Edinburgh Fire Museum, which featured in the Battle of Britain; understands that Wallace the fire dog, who was adopted by Glasgow Central Fire Station in 1894 as their mascot, and preceded the fire engines to many fires in Glasgow until his death in 1902, is set to be a particular favourite among visitors; commends all those involved in operating the local museum and their commitment to Scotland’s fire service heritage, and hopes that visitors will flock to Greenock to spend time at the museum during this milestone year.
