Glasgow Mela 2022
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that the Glasgow Mela will be held on 26 June 2022, in Kelvingrove Park; notes that the event will showcase local artists and performers as well as national and international acts; understands that, alongside the programme that will run onstage, there will be many more artists performing in an exciting programme of participatory activities, including the second ever Mela Artist in Residence, Hamshya Rajkumar, who will invite the audience to connect with the green space in Kelvingrove Park; acknowledges that there will be storytelling, literature, theatre, poetry and dance, with something for all ages, and understands that there will also be the opportunity to browse market stalls and sample food from vendors offering culinary delights from around the globe.
