Notre Dame Centre and Kinship Care Families

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Notre Dame Centre, which is based in north Glasgow, on receiving £127,930 from the National Lottery Medium Grants Scotland: Improving Lives Fund; understands that this will support the centre to continue to deliver its counselling service for kinship care families, working with both kinship carers and young people in parallel sessions aimed at strengthening the family unit by recognising and addressing the distinct needs of each family member; welcomes that this funding will support 120 people from the Greater Glasgow area over a three-year period; commends the work of the staff team at the Notre Dame Centre who, over many years, have successfully used a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and interventions to provide an important service to vulnerable children and families, and thanks Scotland’s kinship carers for the service that they give to society as they look after and care for young people who have often experienced complex trauma and adversity from a very young age.
