Jordan Currie, Newmains Citizen of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Jordan Currie on being awarded the title of Newmains Citizen of the Year for 2022 at the Newmains Gala Day; understands that Jordan was awarded the title for his hard work and dedication to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that throughout lockdown, Jordan prepared and delivered meals to vulnerable and older residents in Newmains after seeing his neighbours struggle during the difficult periods in 2020; applauds the community in Newmains for getting behind Jordan in his endeavours, and raising what it sees as an impressive £1,365 to support Jordan in purchasing ingredients and food supplies to prepare these meals, in turn contributing to the community spirit; understands that, in addition, Jordan has fundraised for community mental health charity, Chris’ House, and helps homeless people in his area by providing sleeping bags and food; commends Jordan for his hard work, thanks him for her dedication and commitment to serve his community through volunteer work, and wishes him all the best for the future.
