Ayrshire Cancer Support Granted Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the charity Ayrshire Cancer Support, which has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of its work in communities across Ayrshire; understands that the charity, which received the award as part of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, offers a wide range of emotional and practical support to those affected by cancer, including a hospital transport service using volunteer drivers to take patients to and from their treatments, as well as free therapeutic services, complimentary therapies, support groups and counselling services at their centres in Kilmarnock and Ayr; notes the substantial efforts made by Ayrshire Cancer Support’s staff and more than 240 volunteers to continue to support people dealing with cancer throughout the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic; commends everyone at Ayrshire Cancer Support for what it sees as their invaluable contribution to the community and for all their hard work bringing kindness and comfort to those in Ayrshire who are affected by cancer, and wishes them well for the future.
