Success of Dollar Open Gardens and Dollar Sustainability Festival in 2022

That the Parliament welcomes the success of a weekend event of sustainability and green spaces in Dollar; understands that the town saw both the Dollar Open Gardens and Dollar Sustainability Festival events on 21-22 May 2022, with hundreds of people taking part; considers that, with 25 places to visit, Dollar Open Gardens showcased a diverse range and was organised by the events team, which recently came under the umbrella of Dollar Community Development Trust; acknowledges that the event, previously organised by Dollar Horticultural and Garden Club, which also held the annual plant sale, saw more than 100 visitors and was raising funds for both the trust and Strathcarron Hospice, with just under £2,500 to be split between the two organisations; believes that Dollar's Sustainability Festival brought a range of free and interactive events to the community marquee, which was set up outside The Hive in the town; acknowledges that, within this event, people had the chance to find out how they can protect wildlife in their gardens, the local "Pond Doctor" was on hand to answer questions on management and restoration, while young people had fun with a smoothie-making bike and checking out small creatures under the microscope; commends this fantastic local community effort, and sends its thanks to all contributors and visitors who supported both events over that weekend.
