Gourock Girl Guide Volunteer Named in Queen’s Birthday Honours List

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Gourock's Christine McLachlan on being awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to young people as a Girl Guides leader; understands that Christine has volunteered with the movement for 50 years, having joined the guides at seven years old, and that her involvement has included opening up opportunities for generations of girls and taking them on adventures at home and overseas; recognises that Christine led Larkfield Girl Guides for two decades before becoming leader of the 2nd Gourock Girl Guides, a position which she still holds; notes that Christine also leads an adult group for women, the Cloch Trefoil, at the Old Gourock and Ashton Church; thanks Christine for her commitment to the Girl Guides movement, and wishes her all the best as she continues to give up her own time to provide opportunities for young people.
