Recognising Bus Services on Clean Air Day 2022

The motion

That the Parliament notes that Clean Air Day takes place on 16 June 2022; believes that Clean Air Day helps to drive what it sees as a positive shift in public knowledge and action and is a chance to find out more about air pollution, share information and make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone; understands that buses account for 75% of public transport and can help reduce emissions and air pollution; believes that they can also make a significant contribution to the economy, through the manufacturing of low and zero emission buses; notes the inauguration on 25 May 2022 of the First Bus Glasgow Caledonia bus depot, which, it understands, is the UK’s largest Electric Vehicle (EV) charging hub; considers that this marks another milestone in the delivery of sustainable transport; recognises First Bus Aberdeen’s world first hydrogen double decker buses; considers that these support Scotland’s journey to clean air, and a cleaner, greener, climate positive city, and encourages travellers and commuters across the country to return to buses to help ease congestion and cut pollution.
