The motion

That the Parliament notes the publication of the Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Coalition's report, Non-Communicable Disease Prevention: Mapping Future Harm; understands that non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, liver disease and lung disease are the leading cause of death in Scotland, and that these diseases accounted for around 40,000 deaths in 2020; acknowledges that it is estimated that more than 1 in 5 of these deaths could be prevented through public health action on health harming products such as tobacco, alcohol and unhealthy food and drinks; understands that the Coalition has set out six priorities to address health harming products, including the introduction of regulations to the Parliament on the domestic advertising of e-cigarettes following a public consultation on the measures, and consulting on restricting the advertising and promotion of alcohol, and considers that significant steps have been taken towards achieving these priorities, but that further action is needed to reduce the impact of health harming products and improve Scotland's public health.
