South Lanarkshire Team to Compete in the 54th International Children’s Games
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that the South Lanarkshire team for this year’s International Children’s Games has been confirmed; understands that sixteen young people will represent South Lanarkshire at this major international event, which takes place in Coventry over six days from 11 to 16 August 2022, across seven sports; further understands that four coaches from South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture will prepare the team to participate in their quest for medals in athletics, swimming and girl’s football, alongside more than 1,600 young athletes from around the world; notes that both North and South Lanarkshire have a proud tradition of supporting the Olympic Committee-sanctioned International Children’s Games, having jointly hosted the 45th games in 2011; sends congratulations to the twelve girls and four boys who have made the South Lanarkshire team, and wishes them the very best of luck ahead of the Games.
