The BIG Project Win at the National Youth Work Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates The BIG Project on its recent awards; understands that Sascha Macleod, Director of The Big Project, won the lifetime achievement award in recognition of her hard work and dedication she has given to the youth work sector over 42 years at the National Youth Work Awards held on 1 June 2022 at the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel in Glasgow; notes that the awards were hosted by Youthlink Scotland, the national agency for youth work that represents more than 100 youth organisation members across Scotland, both voluntary and statutory; understands that The BIG Project, which operates in the Broomhouse area of Edinburgh, supports children and young people aged five to 18 to “learn, achieve, have fun and feel good about themselves”; notes that Margaret Halkett, volunteer at The Big Project, won an Inspiring Volunteer award at the Lord Provost of Edinburgh's Inspiring Volunteer of the Year Award 2022 ceremony, which took place at the City Chambers, Edinburgh, for her dedication and passion for youth work, and wishes The Big Project further success in continuing to promote activities and interests not as an end in themselves but as part of a wider developmental process to raise aspirations and increase self-esteem.
