UK Government’s Programme on Sustainable Inclusive Livelihoods Through Tea Production in Rwanda
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the UK Government's efforts in Rwanda to support job creation and income growth by working with smallholder farmers to develop greenfield tea; understands that the farmers will be supported to produce tea using best farming practices, including understanding and managing climate risk and variability; notes that the programme runs from August 2016 to December 2023, with a projected budget of £11.8 million and a total spend of £7.8 million to date; commends the UK Government’s efforts in Rwanda, and wishes this programme and everyone involved nothing but success.
