The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges Learning Disability Week 2022, which will be celebrated from 20 to 26 June 2022, and where Art and Creativity will be this year’s theme; understands that for many people with a learning disability and their families, getting creative has helped them stay connected and remain positive through the challenges of recent years; further understands that people with a learning disability are twice as likely to experience poor mental health , which can be due to many factors such as discrimination and social isolation; applauds the organisations, family members and support workers within Scotland's communities that support vulnerable individuals who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities and experience poor mental health to live active, healthy and safe lives in their own homes and to have the ability to participate in activities within their local communities, and welcomes the Scottish Government strategy, A Fairer Scotland for Disabled People, and the continued commitment to fund schemes such as Self-directed Support and the Independent Living Fund.
