Ayr Indian Takeaway Announced Best Takeaway and Home Delivery 2022

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ayr’s Indian takeaway The Curry Leaf on being crowned Scotland’s Best Takeaway and Home Delivery of the Year 2022 at the annual Scottish Curry Awards 2022 on 13 June 2022; notes that The Curry Leaf was one of 10 finalists for the category before being announced the overall winner; believes the business to have previously won the Good Food Awards in 2019 and 2020, and to have been voted top takeaway in the 2019 Scottish Curry Awards; understands that the business, which opened in 2017, is family-owned with proprietor Rajinder’s mother overseeing the business operations, and husband, Karamjeet, cooking in the kitchen; recognises the impact that COVID-19 had on the hospitality sector; praises The Curry Leaf as it continued, it understands, to form strong community links through the pandemic; understands that, during COVID-19, Rajindeer and her family working at the takeaway provided 250 meals for their local hospital in Ayr, essential daily-use items to the Society For The Care Of The Blind in India, and books to under-privileged children living in India; commends The Curry Leaf for its contributions and hard work, and wishes everyone in the team the very best for its continued success.
