Golden Eagles South of Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the continued success of the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project on the occasion of the Moffat 2022 Golden Eagle Festival on 16 to 18 September 2022; congratulates the Project on its many successful translocations of young eagles to date, including within Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, which have contributed to a record number of around 33 golden eagles in South Scotland; commends the Project on its successful partnership work on behalf of golden eagles, one of Scotland’s iconic species, showing an example of how nature restoration can be achieved through persistence and dedication, and expresses the hope that the translocated eagles will continue to thrive in their new homes.
