The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that the Royal Highland Show, which was held from 23 to 26 June 2022, at Ingliston, celebrates its 200th anniversary this year; congratulates the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland on the bicentennial milestone of its flagship event, which showcases the best of Scottish food, farming and rural life; believes that the success in selling out tickets for the Friday and Saturday goes to demonstrate the popularity and affection for the show in the Scottish agricultural community and wider public; notes the strong Orkney presence made up of 11 award-winning businesses, including Orkney Distilling, Deerness Distillery, Highland Park, Orkney Gin Company, J Gow Rum, Orkney Bakery, Orkney Cheese, Stockan's Oatcakes, The Island Smokery, BOX'D Orkney and Zoe Davidson Jewellery; understands that this presence is made possible by support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Orkney Islands Council (OIC) and Orkney Food and Drink; further understands that this represents the largest Orkney contingent for many years at the four-day show, which welcomed crowds this year for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; commends the hard work of the Scottish agricultural community, including in Orkney, to maintain high standards and sustainability during the pandemic, and congratulates the Orkney contingent, and all those who attended and competed, on a successful and enjoyable show.
