Our Lady’s High School Gains Gold Accreditation in UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Programme

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Our Lady’s High School, in Motherwell, for gaining Gold Accreditation in the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Programme; commends the efforts of young people and staff for their efforts in securing the Gold award; notes that Our Lady’s High School has been working towards the accreditation since December 2017, led by Social Subjects teacher, Mrs Jennifer Woolley, and has focused on the development of the pupil voice within the school, evaluating and transforming leadership to be at the hands of the pupils; understands that, while working towards the UNICEF award, pupils and staff at Our Lady’s High School developed global goals education, led charity and humanitarian donations, and empowered one another to ensure that young people were given the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential; understands that this means Our Lady’s High School has embedded the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in its policy, practice and culture, and that children’s rights in the school are learned, understood, and followed; recognises Our Lady’s High School for embedding children's rights in school life, and doing so with compassion at heart; applauds the commitment and dedication of the entire school community on this achievement, and wishes pupils and staff all the best for the future.
