The motion

That the Parliament commends pupils and staff from Holy Cross High School in Hamilton, who raised almost £7,000 for charity following their successful completion of the Tinto Hill Challenge; understands that the funds raised will go to the St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie to assist with the invaluable support that they provide to patients, their families and carers; notes that the six kilometre challenge was completed by 376 pupils and 40 staff, which it understands is the greatest ever number of participants from one school; understands that Holy Cross High School has raised almost £75,000 for the St Andrew’s Hospice over the years, with £10,000 raised in 2021-22 with Tinto Challenge Funds augmented by a sponsored 6km run and the sale of Christmas cards, and applauds both pupils and staff at Holy Cross for their continued commitment to St Andrew’s Hospice, which it understands provides up to 30 inpatient specialist palliative care beds, as well as outpatient specialist palliative care services and bereavement support.
