The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Gourdon Primary School on launching their Social Enterprise Café; understands that the pupils were involved in the business plan, logo design and name choice of the café and are also involved in running it on a day-to-day basis; further understands that the café’s main function is to help tackle loneliness in the local community, with all profits going back into the running costs; commends the staff and pupils for persisting with the idea after the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to plans in 2020; understands that the school had various fundraising events to raise the initial funds for the café, including selling winter themed socks at the Christmas fayre and a car wash in the school car park, which raised more than £500; congratulates the school for finishing as runner-up in the children’s Dragon’s Den, and wishes the school well for the Enterprise Awards Ceremony after being nominated by the Enterprise Academy in recognition of their fantastic efforts in opening the café.
