Reddingmuirhead Pit Disaster Memorial Receives SUEZ Communities Trust Funding

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland Free Colliers on their successful funding allocation from SUEZ Communities Trust through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund; understands that the £50,000 of funding will be used to restore the Redding Pit Disaster Memorial in Reddingmuirhead, Falkirk; recognises what it sees as the importance of restoring this memorial to commemorate the 40 men who died in the Pit Disaster in 1923, keeping their memories and efforts prominent in the community for years to come, while teaching younger generations about their local history to create this lasting legacy; considers that the timing of this funding is pertinent as the 100th anniversary of the disaster will be marked next year; congratulates the Sir William Wallace Grand Lodge of Scotland Free Colliers on their funding from SUEZ Communities Trust, and wishes them well in their memorial restoration efforts.
