Motion · S6M-05323 · 1 Jul 2022
Active Care Group and GMB Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament is concerned that the recognition agreement between GMB Scotland and Active Care Group, at the Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre in North Lanarkshire, reportedly ended on 30 June 2022; understands that the Active Care Group failed to engage with its workers or representatives from GMB Scotland on derecognition; believes that such action by the employer will be detrimental to the interests of social care staff and is not in keeping with fair work practices; pays tribute to the workforce for their dedication throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and all that they continue to do to care and support people with complex needs, and calls on the Active Care Group to enter into talks with GMB Scotland to reach a new recognition agreement, so that social care staff and others have their interests effectively represented in the workplace and their terms and conditions protected.
