Mourning the Attack on LGBT+ Community in Oslo
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the awful attack on innocent people that took place on 25 June 2022, in Oslo, Norway, which reportedly resulted in two people being killed and 21 people wounded; understands that those people who were injured and killed were either inside or near to a well-known LGBT+ venue associated with Oslo Pride, which was due to take place the following day; laments the loss of life and the injuries endured in this attack; notes reports indicating that the attack seems likely to have been fuelled by hatred and intolerance of the LGBT+ community; stands in solidarity with members of the LGBT+ community who it understands were, despite warnings about security and safety, determined to be visible and hold an LGBT+ rally in defiance of the terrible event and stand firmly against hatred and intolerance, and considers that people's deeds in LGBT+ History Month, Pride Month and at any other time of year to celebrate the LGBT+ community are not tokenistic or trivial, but sincere and rather essential in continuing to resist, and will, hopefully one day, eradicate the hatred and intolerance that sadly showed itself on the streets of Oslo.
