UK on Brink of Animal Welfare Crisis Claim Charities
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the new joint report written by the Scottish SPCA and the RSPB; notes that, according to the report, rising fuel, power and food prices are the biggest threat to pets, farm livestock and wildlife; further notes the reported findings of a recent YouGov survey of more than 4,000 UK adults that animal welfare is one of the most important issues for people; recognises that the survey also reportedly found that 72% of UK pet owners said they think the cost of living will impact their animals, 70% expressed concern about the cost of care, and one fifth are worried about how they will afford to feed their pets, and considers that farm livestock are also at risk as farmers struggle to cope with rising fuel, feed and fertiliser costs.
