Eastwood High School achieves LGBT Charter at Silver level

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Eastwood High School in Newton Mearns on receiving the LGBT Charter at Silver level; acknowledges the efforts, dedication and hard work of both pupils and staff to achieve this prestigious award from LGBT Youth Scotland; welcomes the training and a review of policies, practices and resources at the school to ensure that Eastwood High strives to go beyond meeting legislative requirements and is as inclusive as possible for pupils, staff, parents and the wider community; notes that, as part of the school receiving the award, LGBTQ+ ambassadors made presentations and funding was raised for pronoun badges; considers that the LGBT Charter for schools is an easy to understand initiative to ensure that schools are proactively inclusive for LGBT people, and congratulates Eastwood High on achieving this excellent commendation and for demonstrating that the Newton Mearns-based school is a champion of LGBT inclusion.
