The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that 2022 marks the 150th anniversary of the introduction of the Education (Scotland) Act 1872; reflects on what it sees as the harm caused to Gaelic speakers and culture in the Highlands and Islands leading to, it considers, a forced decline in Gaelic speakers; marks this occasion by understanding what it sees as the importance of Gaelic culture and language, and looks forward to the introduction of the Scottish Languages Bill, recognising the importance of cross-party support for the language.
