Ayrshire Photographer Celebrates 100th birthday

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Coylton’s John Murdoch on celebrating his 100th birthday; understands that John celebrated with a garden party at his home surrounded by his loved ones; further understands that John first got into photography by occasionally filling in for George Crawford who was the photographer at John’s wedding to his late wife Jean in 1953; understands that John photographed many events including school, club, community and agricultural, submitting photographs to local newspapers including, the Ayrshire Post and Cumnock Chronicle; further understands that John retired only seven years ago making him one of the longest working photographers in Ayrshire, still photographing at the age of 93; notes that the centenarian was visited by South Ayrshire Councillors, Lee Lyons, Depute Leader, and Mary Kilpatrick, Depute Lord Provost, who presented him with a card and special gift, and wishes him the best of health and many more birthday celebrations in the years ahead.
