The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the completion of the purchase of the Bothwell Library Building and the handing over of the keys to community group, Bothwell Futures; understands that while the Bothwell Library has been in existence for over 145 years, only limited library services have been provided from the present building in recent years; further understands that following the asset transfer from South Lanarkshire Council, Bothwell Futures will repair and remodel the inside of the building, transforming it into a multifunctional Community Hub that, it believes, will support the growth and use of the library, while re-energising the resident and business community through proactive and focused services to meet local needs; understands that beneficiaries will include younger families and senior citizens, as well as organisations, businesses and business people; applauds the strategy, which it understands is set out in Bothwell Futures' Five Year Business Plan to create revenue to be reinvested in the local community and ensure that the Bothwell Library Hub is self-sustaining, and commends all those at Bothwell Futures for what it sees as their tireless efforts to secure this monumental community asset transfer with the support of South Lanarkshire Council.
