Lanarkshire Larder Awarded £5,000 funding from the Regional Food Fund (RFF)
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the £5,000 funding for Lanarkshire Larder from the Regional Food Fund (RFF), which, it understands, is one of the Scottish Government’s 100 Days commitments set up to help producers showcase quality regional food and drink products; notes that the RFF is managed by industry organisation, Scotland Food and Drink, and designed to contribute to the sector’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and assist the development of food tourism-related projects; further notes that Lanarkshire Larder was one of 24 projects across the country to have been awarded funding of £110,000 to promote and showcase quality regional produce; understands that Lanarkshire Larder is a membership organisation consisting of local food and drink businesses who want to raise awareness of the food and drink industry in the region; further understands that the group aims to boost awareness of the breadth of the quality local produce, whilst making it more accessible to a wider public by raising consumer awareness of the regional specialties and assisting tangible sustainable business opportunities to the local food and drink economy, and understands that Lanarkshire Larder’s successful funding award was based on building a logo, social media and creating a website to showcase their members, which, it believes, is an opportunity to grow its online presence and increase sales of local produce within Lanarkshire, the rest of Scotland and the UK.
