Bothwell Scarecrow Festival

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the 10th annual Bothwell Scarecrow Festival, which will run from 3 to 18 September 2022 in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire; understands that the festival team have created a programme that aims to surpass the popularity of previous years, with the last pre COVID-19 pandemic festival attended by 30,000 people across 30 separate events, involving 450 scarecrows displays; notes that the festival kicks off with a sports weekend, with later highlights including music, comedy, art, farmers’ market and craft fair, before the festival culminates in the hugely popular and entertaining scarecrow parade; believes that the festival has contributed enormously to community pride and wellbeing by celebrating all the things that make Bothwell such a special place; commends the Bothwell Scarecrow Festival's voluntary committee for all their hard work in bringing this much-loved festival back to full-scale following the pandemic; notes the support of local sponsors and the committee’s pledge to donate surplus funds generated from festival events to local charities and community groups, and wishes everyone involved a successful festival, full of great entertainment and enjoyment.
