Swaran (Judy) Chowdhury Receives British Empire Medal for Charity Work
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Swaran (Judy) Chowdhury on receiving the British Empire Medal for her volunteering work with Kidney Research UK; notes that as a lady of Sikh origin, she has engaged with people in South Asian communities by encouraging them to speak openly about kidney disease and provided relevant information; understands that she is part of the charity's peer educator programme and has been involved with them for over eight years; acknowledges what it sees as Judy's tireless and selfless efforts as a volunteer, which have led to her being given the award by Deputy Lieutenant Dr Rajan Mandok in a private ceremony held at Glasgow City Chambers, and wishes her many more years of active volunteering to improve the health of her community.
