Ping Petroleum UK and Cerulean Winds to Create One of the UK’s First Wind-powered Oil and Gas Production Facilities

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the reported agreement between Ping Petroleum UK and Cerulean Winds to create one of the UK’s first wind-powered oil and gas production facilities; believes that this is an important milestone for the oil and gas industry as it seeks to meet decarbonisation targets set out in the North Sea Transition Deal; understands that the offshore floating wind technology to be deployed will remove up to 20,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions every year, and was developed with grant support from the UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy; welcomes the agreement’s reported ambition to realise up to £100 million of investment in the UK’s renewables supply chain, and hopes that this initiative can successfully demonstrate what it sees as the potential of floating offshore wind to boost the renewables supply chain and cut emissions from oil and gas production.
