Congratulations to The Waverley Bar and Artisan Restaurant

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates two Wishaw businesses for making it to the final of the 2022 Scottish Bar and Pub Awards;notes that The Waverley Bar, which, it understands, re-opened less than 12months ago under the new ownership of David and Frances Smith, has establishedthe bar once more as a popular public house, named as one of four finalists forthe coveted, Sunday Mail Pub of the Year Award; understands that Derek Mather from Artisan Restaurant,has been nominated for the second year running as Whisky Guru of the YearAward; further understands that the final award ceremony will be held at aglitzy awards event within The Doubletree hotel in Glasgow on 30 August 2022;acknowledges what it sees as the resilience, strength and determination of anindustry that has faced many difficult challenges over the COVID-19 pandemicperiod and applauds those who have strived to deliver high standards ofexcellence; recognises the hard work of the staff, and extends very best wishesto both businesses in the competition.
