North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band World Champions

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ross Cowan, Pipe Major and North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band on being crowned Drummer World Champions 2022 in Glasgow; notes that the Pipe Band was second overall in the Grade Novice B category at the World Pipe Band Championships 2022; further notes that pupils from across Motherwell and Wishaw, including Braidhurst, Clyde Valley, Coltness, Dalziel, Our Lady’s and St Aidan’s High School are some of the members of the musical ensemble; understands that, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the band only began rehearsing again at the beginning of January 2022, highlighting what it sees as their resilience, commitment, talent and hard work; further understands that Creative Scotland, with the backing of the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative, has helped deliver many projects and performance opportunities for pupils throughout North Lanarkshire Schools, and wishes all members and leaders of the band the very best wishes for the future, and every success in the upcoming events within the Pipe Band Championship calendar.
