The motion

That the Parliament commends Glasgow Airport’s FlightPath Fund for awarding £1,000 to the Scottish Police Dog Memorial charity; understands that the charity is seeking to raise £35,000 to build a memorial to Scotland’s police dogs based at Pollok Country Park in Glasgow, which is home of the National Dog Training Centre; further understands that the charity is around £5,000 short of the target amount and that the FlightPath Fund donation will bring them a step closer; notes that there are more than 180 Police Scotland dogs working or in training across the country, regularly deployed at Scotland’s airports; believes that the Flightpath Fund donation is a fitting tribute to the dedication of police dogs and their handlers who keep people safe as part of their duties; understands that in 2022 the FlightPath Fund has made available over £90,000 to community causes, with 39 clubs and charities local to Glasgow Airport already benefitting from £52,000 from the fund; acknowledges that since 2011 the FlightPath Fund has awarded more than £1.7 million to over 700 clubs, groups and community organisations, and thanks those who operate the fund.
