Learners Receive Dennis Canavan Scholarship For Further Education

That the Parliament congratulates Louise Robertson of Wallacestone, Louisa Richardson of Brightons and Hayden McGuckin of Grangemouth, on their monetary award from the Dennis Canavan Scholarship; understands that amongst many other learners from the wider Falkirk area, Louise, Louisa and Hayden are moving onto further or higher education and received this monetary scholarship not only for their exemplary academic achievements, but also the positive impact that they have had within their communities with service to others; commends Louise Robertson on the award of £500 towards her upcoming study of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh; recognises Louise’s overall achievement of seven Highers and two Advanced Highers, obtained while also making a positive impact with her voluntary and community work; notes Louise’s particular contributions to the 1st Redding and Westquarter Brownies as a young leader; commends Louisa Richardson for receiving an award of £200 towards her upcoming study of Law at Glasgow Caledonian University; acknowledges Louisa’s efforts in mentoring younger pupils and also her inventive and considered approach to removing barriers and encouraging communication around topics stigmatised as being difficult or awkward to discuss publicly with her development of a board game; commends Hayden McGuckin for his award of £50 towards his further study of Sports and Fitness at Forth Valley College; values his commitments to volunteering and charity work, including his fundraising for Bikes for Refugees Scotland; further congratulates Louise, Louisa and Hayden on their achievements, and wishes them every success in the future.
