Uddingston Pipe Band on Tune at the World Pipe Band Championships

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Uddingston Pipe Band who were crowned Grade 2 world champion drum corps at the 2022 World Pipe Band Championships held in Glasgow under glorious sunshine; acknowledges that Uddingston Pipe Band, under the direction of Pipe Major John Bowes and Leading Drummer Grant Cassidy, were also placed third overall at the Championships in Grade 2; notes that over 40,000 people attended the Championships, with 146 bands from across the globe participating, with the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band crowned Grade 1 World Pipe Band Champions; recognises that success at the World Championships completes a very successful year for the Uddingston Pipe Band following prizes at the British, European and Scottish Pipe Band Championships in 2022; understands that the Tannochside Miners Welfare Club, where the Uddingston Pipe Band practice, contributes the Band’s success through their continued support and encouragement; applauds the Uddingston Pipe Band for their tenacity and pursuance of piping and drumming excellence, particularly after an extended period of interruption during the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes the Uddingston Pipe Band continued success as they support Scotland’s world renowned pipe band traditions.
